CPS stands for Clicks Per Second, the classic metric for mouse click speed. It is calculated as total clicks divided by test seconds. For example, 80 clicks in 10 seconds gives a CPS of 8.0. A higher CPS means faster clicking, and gamers often use it to measure clicking ability.
Average users click at about 5-7 CPS; frequent gamers reach 7-10 CPS; professional esports players can achieve 10-13 CPS or even higher through dedicated training. Note that CPS is affected by mouse sensitivity, button feel, test duration and other factors, so avoid over-comparing between different groups.
1) Use the "jitter technique": rapidly vibrate your finger when pressing the button — a popular clicking method; 2) Keep your arm and wrist relaxed, concentrating power at your fingertips; 3) Choose a mouse with responsive switches and adjust DPI and button feel; 4) Practice 10-15 minutes daily. Go gradually to avoid finger fatigue and strain.
The six-tier rating is based on common CPS ranges: Beginner (below 3), Average (3-5), Good (5-7), Excellent (7-9), Master (9-11), Professional (11+). Ratings are for reference only. CPS in longer tests (30s/60s) is usually lower than in short tests (5s/10s), so personal bests are recorded separately for each duration.
