Image Watermark Knowledge Base

What is EXIF Information?

EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is a metadata format for images that contains information about the shooting device, capture time, GPS location, image orientation, and more. Many photos taken with mobile phones contain rotation information, which can cause incorrect display orientation on computers.

Example: Photos taken vertically on a phone may appear horizontal on a computer. This tool automatically detects and corrects this.

What is Alpha Channel?

The alpha channel is the channel in an image that stores transparency information. PNG format supports alpha channel, which enables background transparency effects. When adding watermarks, if the original image has a transparent background, exporting to PNG format preserves the transparency.

Example: Logo images typically use PNG format so they can be placed on any background without a white border.

How to Choose Watermark Intensity?

Watermark intensity depends on opacity and font size. Lower opacity (smaller value) makes the watermark lighter, suitable for situations where it shouldn't affect the main image content; higher opacity makes the watermark more visible with better anti-theft effect. Generally, it's recommended to set opacity between 30%-60%.

Example: Use 30%-40% opacity for daily shared images, and 50%-60% opacity for important copyright images.

Common Image Watermark Errors and Solutions

Uploaded images appear inverted
Cause: Photos taken with mobile phones contain EXIF rotation information that some browsers don't parse correctly
Solution: This tool automatically detects EXIF rotation information and corrects image orientation
Watermark text is partially hidden
Cause: Font size too large or watermark position exceeds canvas boundary
Solution: Reduce font size or adjust watermark position within the canvas
PNG images have white background after export
Cause: Export format was set to JPG, which doesn't support transparent background
Solution: Select PNG format when exporting to preserve the alpha channel
Some images fail during batch processing
Cause: Some file formats are not supported or files are corrupted
Solution: Check file formats and ensure they are JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, or BMP format
